paulproteusmlinksva, What should I use for tracking the stuff I should do but haven't yet?17:54
paulproteusThe roundup install on apps, or the SF tracker?17:54
nathanypaulproteus: do we have a general round-up install on apps?17:55
paulproteus(That is to say, do *you* have a preference for seeing the list, or do you have suggestion based on experience with them?)17:55
nathanyi seem to recall we have a dedicated tracker there for ccpublisher... maybe something else?17:55
paulproteusI thought there was one.  We were all talking about this a little while ago, but maybe it was just a task-specific...17:55
paulproteus...yeah, I guess I'm thinking of that.17:55
nathanyi think we talked about a general one, but it never materialized (iirc)17:56
paulproteusWell, should we set one up?  Should we make the ccpublisher one available for other projects (like my stats)?17:58
paulproteusOr should I start using the SF.net tracker for this?17:58
paulproteusRoundup sure looks nicer to me.17:58
nathanyno, we shouldn't make the ccpublisher one general -- it contains customizations to handle ccpublisher auto-reporting17:58
nathanyi hate to condemn anyone to the sf.net tracker :)17:59
nathany(i'm looking @ the state of trackers on apps now)17:59
* paulproteus nods17:59
paulproteusBTW, would you be interested in login integration with e.g. wiki.cc.org or OpenID?18:00
paulproteusOne disadvantage of setting up my own separate Roundup install on apps is that then it'd have yet another user DB...18:00
paulproteus...and we could ameliorate that with OpenID or just making it use the wiki's DB for auth, for example.18:01
nathanyi guess i'm not interested in devoting the time necessary to implement custom authentication if either mediawiki or roundup18:01
nathanyesp when it comes to managing upgrades18:01
nathanyif either support openid out of the box, i could be down with that18:02
paulproteusI don't think it would be a huge deal, and I could do it, especially if upstream accepted the patches (making OpenID more plausible then).18:02
nathanyi'd say talk to mike... assuming upstream accepts the patches, i have no objections18:03
* paulproteus nods and pings mlinksva18:06
paulproteusCan I quiz you about why you like Roundup again?18:06
nathanyme?18:07
paulproteusYeah, like, why do you rather use Roundup than e.g. sf.net's tracker?18:07
nathanyi like it because its simple and flexible...18:07
paulproteusCool.18:07
nathanyit's easy to customize if you need special fields, and it has built it support for "Saving" queries18:07
nathanysf.net's tracker always seemed to be a pain to manage issues with18:08
paulproteusYeah, it always has.18:08
nathanypaulproteus: restarting apache now.. one sec and i'll have that configured18:13
nathanypaulproteus: http://roundup.creativecommons.org/cc/18:15
nathanygo ahead and create an account and i'll make you an admin18:16
paulproteusAccount ("paulproteus") created, going to confirm when the confirmation hits my mailbox after greylisting.18:16
paulproteusAccount confirmed.18:19
nathanypaulproteus: shit, i got the heavily customized schema by accident18:19
paulproteus(-:18:19
nathanyone second and i'll reset it... sorry about that18:20
paulproteusNo prob, just let me know what to do when I should be doing it.18:20
nathanyok18:20
nathanypaulproteus: ok, we're back with the default schema18:23
nathanygo ahead and recreate your user18:23
paulproteusRecreated; waiting for reconfirmation.18:23
paulproteusnathany, reconfirmed.18:26
nathanypaulproteus: and now you're an admin18:27
paulproteusSweet, and I'm filing a bug against myself now. (-:18:27

mlinksvapaulproteus, although sf tracker sucks, we've been using it a bit more for everything except ccpublisher.  i'd love to use just one tracker for "everything" cc apart from ccPublisher which has crash reporting requirements.  i'd also love to not actually run that tracker.  does google code have something better?  i suppose if it would be a huge improvement and there isn't a viable hosted alternative we could run another roundup instance.20:49
mlinksvaopenid integration would be good, anywhere20:49
mlinksvaincluding the cc wiki.  evanpro has written a mediawiki openid extension, though i haven't looked at it20:50
mlinksvaprobably the first thing that would need to be done is upgrade to php5, cause right now we're stuck at mediawiki 1.6.x iirc20:50
paulproteusmlinksva, It does indeed have something better.20:51
paulproteusre: code.google.com20:51
mlinksvarejon likes to argue that although sf sucks in many respects, it has a critical mass and ppl don't want to create yet another acct or whatever20:51
paulproteusI would like to argue with that exept that it sucks.20:51
paulproteus(-;20:51
mlinksvaheh20:52
paulproteuss/with that/from that position, too, /20:52
mlinksvamaybe this topic will come up until we dump sf.  i'll talk to nathany about it tomorrow.20:53
