Publishing vs. Culture
- Britannica vs. Wikipedia
- Microsoft vs. Open source
Which are you?
Caveats:
- You don't have to allow access to your source repository, put all of your content on a wiki, and use an open source or CC license as appropriate, but you'd better have a good reason for not doing so.
- Britannica and Microsoft are just easy examples, which may not be valid in the future. E.g., speculation that Microsoft will figure out open source software and be the most important commercial player there, a la IBM.
